South Korea's population
is 47.9 million, twice that of North Korea. It is similar to the
state of Indiana in size and shape. The first Protestant
church was established in 1884; today there are 38,000 such churches in
South Korea. In recent years Christianity has experienced rapid
growth; 25% of the people of South Korea profess to be
"Christian." More than 220 New Testament assemblies can be
found in the country, as well as over 150 national workers. There is
complete freedom of religion.
