Chile extends
from the border of Peru to Cape Horn, the most southerly point of South
America. It has 2,650 miles of coastline along the Pacific Ocean but
is only 250 miles across at its widest point. Roman Catholicism
ceased to be the official religion in 1925, but 80% of the people claim to
be adherents. There is complete religious freedom in Chile.
About 5% of the population of 15.8 million are of Indian descent.
The missionaries, along with five national workers, are involved with 39
assemblies.
