Albania,  located in southeastern Europe, is a small, mountainous country with a population of 3.1 million.  Its size compares to the state of Maryland.  Before 1990 and the fall of communism Albania was one of the most closed countries in the world.  Pyramid schemes and political corruption produced the anarchy of 1997 and will keep the country unstable for some time.  Many are open to the gospel, but the cults and a false gospel are rampant.  Albanian is the official language.
