June 2004 Prayer Update
Dear Friends,
As our time in Bogota draws to a close we
wanted to give you an update as well as ask for your prayers.
The semester at El Camino Academy ended
yesterday and though it was sad to think that there are many
families we may not see around here again, we are thankful
that the Lord has used ECA in our lives and that we have been
able to serve and support many missionaries in teaching their
children. Pray for the students and
teachers who are moving to various parts of the USA and the
world.
Bill hopes to complete one more project at ECA
before we move on and that is to begin the installation
process of a new network server. Pray
that the process goes smoothly without many of the typical
computer glitches!!
There are two weeks left until the end of the
semester with the Bible school. It has been a good semester
thus far and there are 31 students (from Bill's two classes)
who have worked hard to the end. Pray
that all they have learned about how to study and apply the
Bible will be put into practice in their local churches.
Over the next three weeks we will be turning
over the rest of our responsabilities to other people in our
JVargas church. We know there will be many tearful goodbyes
with those we have connected with most.
Pray that their faith would be strengthened as they learn to
lean more upon the Lord.
With our departure, Gilberto Vanegas will be
the sole elder in our assembly. We know this will be a tough
challenge. There are about three other men who will be able
to help out in some ways, but they are still learning and
maturing and not quite ready to assume the role of elders.
Please pray for Gilberto and pray that
the Lord would raise up more capable men to help lead.
Angela has a young woman ready to replace her
role as teacher in the Sunday teenage (girls) bible class -
but only on a part-time basis. So we are praying that the
Lord will show who else will be good to help in that way.
Pray for another mature woman to lead
these young women.
Also pray for us as we go through these difficult goodbyes and
look to the Lord to show us how He wants us to continue to
live and serve in the USA. We will be
travelling and visiting many assemblies and supporters over
the next two and half months, arriving back in CA in time to
start seminary the last week of August.
Praise the Lord with us for all the good contacts, adventures
and growth we have experienced here... but most of all praise
Him for the work He is doing as His word reconciles many
Colombians to Himself and changes their lives!
With much love in Christ,
