CHILD ADVOCACY

To promote the best interests, safety and wellbeing of our precious children, in a manner that respects their need for continuity of care and for stable family relationships; taking into account the physical and mental developmental differences of each child in our care.

We have a terrific team of educators who are dedicated to our Raison d'être of Child Advocacy, Environmental Stewardship and Excellence.  Their salaries range from US$100 to $500 per month in an economy with an inflation rate and cost of goods & services, up to four times that of the USA.  They sometimes have had to wait for weeks to receive their salaries, because of slow donor income.  However they have remained committed to our vision and mission.  These special educators also work without health or accident insurance.

A) We would like to be able to increase their salaries and help with their professional development and exposure, so that they can focus on transforming our precious students.  B) We would like to provide accident and health insurance for all our educators and children.  C) We would like to put in place a pension plan for those who commit to serve in this ministry for the rest of their lives.

 

 


The Benefits

 

An alternative transformational Christian Education System that converts rural children destined for distressing poverty or devastating criminal behaviour and hopelessness to productive leader citizens, achieving spiritual & physical development and academic & artistic progress.  A community of adult & children learners exercising local, global & environmental stewardship, understanding & utilizing technology and growing in wisdom, stature and in favour with God and community.

What we do:  We direct the development of GEC with the intent to make this ministry a model of excellence in all areas of teaching and learning and to subsequently encourage similar development in all 10 assembly schools in the region and any other schools interested in following our model.

 

Help we need:  Teaching, Chapel Ministry, Administration, Teacher Development (in-service), Fund Raising & Grant Writing, Repairs & Construction, Technology Development (bringing in new or used computers or helping repair those here, building web pages etc (well you took care of this one)!

North Eastern Education Development (NEED Jamaica)

Summary Statement:

NEED Jamaica is an Education Development & Community Prosperity initiative that focuses on Wholistic Child Development and “Ground Up” Community Prosperity.  We encourage and facilitate attendance to children’s academic & artistic progress, spiritual & physical development, local, global & environmental stewardship & their ability to understand & utilize technology.  All in a nurturing environment that focuses on the development of exploratory thought and action and the capacity to learn and grow in wisdom, stature and in favour with God and community. We develop & support Community Development initiatives that empower & increase the socioeconomic prosperity of grassroots persons & organizations

 

 

What we do:  We established NEED Jamaica as an umbrella NGO and collaboration of Assembly Schools and other interested institutions willing to follow and demonstrate our Mission. NEED also facilitates the importation of supplies, material and personnel for participating schools.  NEED organizes workshops and conferences for the development of all in this learning community.  We intend to make this ministry an alternative school system and community development model of excellence in all areas of teaching, learning and unity.

 

Help we need:  Teacher Development (in-service) Personnel, Fund Raising & Grant Writing, Repairs & Construction, Technology Development. We also need NEED representatives in the USA willing to act on our behalf to mobilize the collection of learning tools and technology and to facilitate the importation of items to us.

 

2.    Radio Ministry:

Righteous, Relevant, RJR, 94FM 10:20PM Wednesday

Let the Word be heard!

 

Summary Statement:

Righteous, Relevant Radio Ministry of God's Truth, Life Principles and the Person and Work of our Lord Jesus Christ!

 

What we do:  Every Wednesday, I travel 41 (2hrs.) miles through the "Junction" (on a winding coastal and inland river gorge) road to produce a 15 minute program on the national radio station, Radio Jamaica.

 

Help we need:  Construction of a recording studio.  Setting up of recording equipment we presently have and determining and acquiring what more may be needed.

 

 

3.    Sports Ministry:

Discipline, Respect, Unity & Love

Summary Statement

VICTORY Yu†e is an after school and Saturday program with at risk male children using Team Games, Food and Excursions as the incentives.  However the real motive is to facilitate their nutritional, spiritual, social, academic and personal skills development so that they will grow up to be servants of God and righteousness, instead of their supposed destiny as beggars, thieves and gang/political gunmen.

 

What we do: Team Games, Coaching and Playing with marginalized kids, all with Evangelism, Discipleship and Social/Personal skills development as the focus, so that they will grow up to be servants of God and righteousness, instead of their supposed destiny as beggars, thieves and gang/political gunmen.  At the end of each year we have a Victory Banquet where they are required to take and honour a female from their family group.
Help we need:  Soccer Balls, small goals, uniforms, food, shoes, regular clothing for ages 3 to 15.  Short and long term coaches.
